Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The naked body of an unidentified middle-aged woman was discovered in a field in Jagatballavpur, Howrah, on Sunday. The body was found by a local man working in the fields of the Munshihat Bhupatipur Raipara area. He noticed the lifeless body lying beside a swampy area in the middle of the field. The man immediately alerted other villagers, and the news quickly spread throughout the area.
Upon arrival at the scene, local residents were unable to recognize the woman. “She might be from a nearby village,” one resident speculated, but no one was able to identify her for certain. The woman appeared to be in her mid-40s, though the exact age could not be determined at the time of discovery. There were no immediate signs of injuries or marks on her body that would suggest a cause of death, but the circumstances prompted suspicion. The woman was found lying face down in the field, her body unclothed and in a state that suggested she may have been discarded there.
The police were alerted and quickly arrived at the scene. The body was carefully examined and taken to a local hospital for a postmortem examination. Investigators have not yet disclosed any further details regarding the cause of death, but they have stated that all possibilities are being considered. The body was found in an isolated area of the field, which is typically not frequented by locals. A thorough examination of the site was conducted to search for any physical evidence that could point to the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
As part of their investigation, the police have been working to identify the woman, circulating her photograph to nearby police stations and examining missing persons reports. Authorities are also in the process of canvassing the area, speaking with local residents to check if anyone has seen the woman before or knows of her whereabouts. The police are urging anyone with information about the woman's identity or any unusual activity in the area to come forward. At present, the police have not ruled out any theories, including homicide or other criminal activity, and investigations are ongoing. The postmortem results are expected to provide more clarity on the cause of death, but for now, police remain focused on solving the case and identifying the victim.
